Winning Darren Aronofsky “Best Director” at 1998’s Sun Dance Film Festival, the psychological thriller Pi (insert pi symbol here) narrates Max Cohen’s (Sean Gullette) search for numerical patterns in all life's existence with the assistance from his mentor Sol (Mark Margolis), the only human with whom he prefers interaction. The obsessive compulsive mathematician creates a super computer that predicts the stock market, driving Wall Street’s curiosity to investigation. Max’s frequent headaches and seizures create eerie surreal scenes to drive the imagination wild and leave the audience in disbelief as he searches for the truth.

DVD Design Examples. . .

Majority of the designs keep the text at the top or bottom of the layout. Especially the names of actors/actresses- they way they are placed on the page is extremely similar. The design for "Elf" obviously conveys a child like image compared to the others. The design for "Phone Booth" I find very unattractive. The slanted text at the bottom doesn't help the appeal at all along with the way the word "Phonebooth" is presented.

Original Pi DVD cover. . .

Actually, I think that this design does not convey the movie as I saw it. I would be interested to talk to the designer about their concept. After the film, I had this sense of compulsion, intensity, and repetition, but I do not feel that when looking at this cover.

This picture was presented in my photo class today, and I couldn't help but laugh at its ironic subject combination. Eating habits, perspectives on beauty, and body images have always been an interest to me. It is hard to understand how America is one of the fattest nations in the world while at the same time obsessed with diets and workout plans.

I heard about Found, a magazine which publishes random things that people find, awhile back but forgot about it. While searching the web, I came across their website and couldn't help but look. The find of the day was this letter, which I couldn't help but giggle as well. I love the idea of this magazine, because I am always finding random things, making up a past or story behind them. I can't help but wonder such things as who the previous owner was or where they were from. It also circles around the idea of the websites where you can track dollar bills and find out where they have been, in a way personifying them.
